What You'd Actually Do
You will serve as a Manager in the Signatures Fleet Systems Division of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.
Key Duties
- You will provide mentorship and technical guidance to division members, assist in career development, assess performance and provide feedback, hire new employees to meet staffing needs and perform other division personnel and managerial functions.
- You will utilize system engineering principles in providing guidance, direction, and support to subordinates in designing, developing, maintaining, and validating systems which fall under the division mission.
- You will provide oversight for division portfolio including Acoustic Intelligence data collection and analysis systems, Signature Guidance and Signature Training systems, Tactical Decision Aids, and onboard signature monitoring systems and programs You will oversee In-Service Engineering Agent and Technical Direction Agent functions for designated roles and systems in support of sponsor and Fleet requirements including system and networks which support data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
- You will serve as an advocate for the Division’s technical programs in coordination of facilities, contracting, and cyber policies affecting mission execution.
Qualifications
- This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a General Engineer (0801-series), an Electrical Engineer (0850-series), a Computer Engineer (0854-series), a Physicist (1310-series), or a Computer Scientist (1550-series) depending upon the qualifications of the candidate.

- In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 pay band (GS-12/13 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist senior line manager or technical project leader directing multi-disciplinary software and engineering teams, program managers, and/or branch managers to successfully deliver and field Signature systems to the Fleet; guiding the complete lifecycle of sonar or acoustic measurement, collection, analysis, training, monitoring, and/or decision aid systems; and leveraging comprehensive knowledge of DoD acquisition frameworks to oversee the development, procurement, and sustainment of major Fleet capabilities.
